McMahon's co-accused, John Laurinaitis, confirmed the allegations as true in a statement through his lawyer (Laurinaitis claims also to be a victim, though). McMahon is gone from public life, whether not not he serves time. But will there be a lasting stain on WWE itself?
It’ll survive but it’s hard for it not to be tainted. Vince’s dad started the company but once it got off the ground in the early 80s and was renamed WWF, Vince ran the show for the next several decades. He was in charge for its most prolific eras and also was a driving force in bringing wrestling to a more mainstream audience. Talking about wrestling history from this point on will always have an asterisk.
So is McMahon going to lose over $400 Million for this like Trump did for doing nothing more than real estate development practices that are very common, not to mention, all the loans he paid the banks back on??
Or maybe he'll have to pay 1 billion dollars like Alex Jones. If the trial is in a liberal shithole they can pretty much just say guilty and come up with a ridiculous number.
Ha true. Some people still think Bret Hart died falling from the rafters of an arena 25 years ago, even though he returned to get revenge on Vince a decade or so after that.
They said the same about the Undertaker or his opponents when he fought in Buried Alive matches. Someone died, then suddenly one day, popped up again wrestling. Its hard to confirm whats real and not real in pro wrestling
I have no idea what Vince McMahon is in trouble for.
But I have to give him credit.
I watched wrestling as a little boy in the 1970s. I can remember it, Chief Jay Strongbow was my fave. Vince McMahon was nothing but an announcer at that time. As the 70s rolled on, probably by the time I was ten years old, one no longer had any interest in it.
You couldn't help but notice wrestling suddenly becoming a big deal in the 1980s. At that point, I only noticed because of the MTV connection. Evidently, it went into the stratosphere. For me, I was aware, but thought it was a joke. One of my friends was into it big time - which I made fun of.
Well, that friend now sells the tapes he made in the 80s and is doing pretty well with it. Wrestling became a worldwide multi-billion dollar operation. And who was behind it....
Hulk Hogan was already headlining for the AWA, yet that company never became top dog. The credit for the wrestling boom lies with Vince, disgusting as he is. If Hogan had never existed, then Randy Savage, Magnum TA, Kerry Von Erich or someone else would have been in that spot, waving Old Glory.
