Out of all players to ever play, his stat will always be the one that blows my mind the most.

How can someone play 500+ games and never be awarded a yellow or red card? No one will ever do that again.

reply

Might point to being something missing from his game. Wasn't able to mix it up. Basically a bit of a pussy.

reply

I heard him say something like he has always been a calm and reserved person to the point that he has remained good friends with his ex-wives.

reply

When he played he did nothing but stand up front. He never tracked back or defended like modern players.

He never put himself in a position to get carded due to never puttting a tackle in.

reply

But still I think it's impressive that when he received the ball he didn't accidentally lose it and foul a player in desperationaand get a yellow.

reply

When he lost the ball he said fuck it . Tackling back was gazza's job ouch!

reply

A very different game in the 80's and 90's.

Lots of tackles that would get an instant yellow today were fine then.

reply

I guess that's true. Especially in the Premier League where they let everything go.

reply

This plus strikers would attack only maybe odd one may defend a corner or freekick that is all.

Lineker was a poacher it was all he did be in the right place at the right time he did nothing else a term people used to use was goal hanger.

Refs as you mentioned allowed a lot as well if you used todays standards half the players if not all for one team would be sent off.

reply

He just walked around on the field doing nothing.

The guy's a piece of sh*t .

reply

But no yellow cards. I'm assuming you're here because of what he said on TV.

reply

He never really said anything too objectionable on TV, it's on Twitter. But the fact he works for the BBC who are supposed to be impartial is where the issue lays.

reply

I think the comparison is hyperbole, but I don't think it's worth firing him over. But you're probably right that the problem is with the BBC.

reply

He just needs to decide which is more important to him, being a sports pundit on the BBC or a political activist on Twitter.

reply

This isn't the first time, he constantly attacks people on Twitter who don't follow the party line.

Besides, he hasn't been fired. He'll most likely be back in a few weeks.

reply

He's still a lazy piece of sh*t.
