How do people like you misconstrue what people actually say, unless you are actively trying to promote some kind of agenda? She never said she hates white men (if she did, she sure as hell would not be dating them). She said...

"About a year ago, I started paying attention to what my press days looked like and the critics reviewing movies, and noticed it appeared to be overwhelmingly white male. Moving forward, I decided to make sure my press days were more inclusive. After speaking with you, the film critic Valerie Complex and a few other women of colour, it sounded like across the board they weren't getting the same opportunities as others. When I talked to the facilities that weren't providing it, they all had different excuses. To them, a call for expanded access to opportunities for women and people of colour in a space traditionally dominated by white men…is not only an insult—it amounts to a threat to take away what they consider theirs."

"[Audiences] are not allowed enough chances to read public discourse on these films by the people that the films were made for. I do not need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn't work for him about A Wrinkle in Time. It wasn't made for him. I want to know what it meant to women of colour, to biracial women, to teen women of colour, to teens that are biracial."

All of her comments were regarding film critics and reviewers that were present on Press Day.

I am generally fine with the first paragraph (and always was) although saying " they all had different excuses" could just be that they had valid reasons but she did not like them.

My problem with the statement comes from " I do not need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn't work for him about A Wrinkle in Time. It wasn't made for him."

A film critic's job is to view a film, as a film, not from a 40 Year Old White guys perspective. That does not make any sense to do it that way. His audience would be severely limited. A film critic's job is to be able to understand who the film is for and review it that way. I have never seen a film review of a rom com get criticized because it did not have enough violence. the reason for that is the audience of a rom-com is not looking for violence in the film.

As far as those voices not being heard my response is : 30 years ago I would have been 100% with her but in today's world with the internet and numerous ways to get your voice heard that is no a valid reason to be critical of the system.

if a white person said even 1/2 she said and replaced it with "black" people on here would be screaming racism. film critics dont look at movies and say "well im a white male and 40 this film isnt for me i dislike it". they do or shuld review it on the merits of the film. its not a science and not perfect, but its why you have adult critics all the time praising movies that arent for them, such as kids movies.

its just another shield she's using to defend a junk movie from any criticism.no actor in hollywood will admit their films garbage, they jsut shout racism and sexism instead

So, "A Wrinkle in Time" was specifically not made for forty-year-old white dudes? It was made for women of color, biracial women, teen women of color, and teens who are biracial? She sounds like an idiot.
