She is so authentic. I only know her from Last Tango in Halifax and Happy Valley, but wow! Two very different characters, but each so well done. The cop she plays in Happy Valley is one of the greatest tv characters I’ve seen. You just don’t see roles like that for women, especially on US tv. Faults and anger issues, far from a perfect parent/grandparent figure. Fascinating amount of character detail.

I just binged Happy Valley. What a masterpiece! I think it is the British equivalent of The Wire. The actress who plays Clare the sister is great too.
