Wow, I never heard anything about this until earlier today, when I saw that he had passed away. I only really know him for 3 things:
1) "Jeopardy" - first song I'd ever heard from him and I loved it. Got tons of radio airplay when it first came out...and the video to this song was great also.
2) Weird Al Yankovic's version: "I Lost On Jeopardy." Hilarious video... featured the late Art Fleming. But it also features Greg Kihn at the end...I think Kihn seemed like a great guy to do that spot! π
3) "The Break-Up Song" - "They Don't Write 'Em Like That Anymore." Tremendous song...and, no, they certainly don't.
I remember hearing a radio DJ tell a funny story about Greg Kihn. A lot of these "teen music magazines" would have these polls that had "Best Singer," "Best Drummer," "Best Guitarist," etc. Greg Kihn won "Best Guitarist" in one poll. When he was asked about it, he laughed and said, "I only know 3 chords!" π He seemed to have a great sense of humor. He's one of those artists who I only heard a couple of songs from, but I loved them. Fame is funny... not sure why he wasn't a bigger star than what he was. Anyway...RIP, Greg Kihn.
