Bilingual?
Does anyone know if he's fluent in Spanish? Or is he one of those Mexican boys that tries to act white and acts like he doesn't know spanish???

sharejust becasue a hispanic person doesn't know spanish DOES NOT mean they want to be white. check your ignorance at the door before you speak, moron
shareThere are a lot of Hispanics who do not speak Spanish. And many who used to speak Spanish fluently prolly forgot much of their language.
just like there are lots of Asians (second and third generation particularly) who do not speak fluent Chinese, Korean, etc.
Funny enough, I'm Asian Hispanic and my Spanish is at a higher level than my Chinese (though that's probably b/c I learned Spanish at a younger age since I was raised in South America)! Though I look like a full-blooded Asian by appearance, I consider myself Hispanic as well as Asian (I'm mixed).
I think he does, but maybe just a little bit because in Crazy/Beautiful he talked spanish with his mom but only like 3 words haha. I would love it if he did speak it though...SUPER SEXY!
shareHell, the White people in Montebello (the few that are there) speak Spanish. Any one ever been???? Go there and you will see that you could live there your whole life and never ever speak a word of English and get by perfectly fine. That being said I am pretty sure he "can" speak Spanish. Whether he does or not is a different issue.
shareYou're right. Notice how little Spanish Jay (as Carlos in Crazy/Beautiful) speaks to his mother. That's because Jay doesn't know much Spanish, but him speaking English to his mother while she speaks to him in Spanish fits his character very well.
It's been a while since I saw the film, but he speaks a little more Spanish with Nicole (Kirsten Dunst) and her friend on the way to take Carlos home when they got some food.
how can hispanic forget how to speak spanish when mexico is right next door? other people like Italians or asian hardly forget how to speak their native language.

Umm I am half German and Polish and know next to nothing in regards to both languages. My ancestors that moved here (if they did) probably forgot their language once they had to assimilate and learn the chief language: English.
I was raised in the United States, yes, and could have studied both languages but chose to take Spanish in high school since I live in California and it comes in handy here due to how we border Mexico.
I am a liberal Democrat. Deal with it!
Thank you for the response to that ignorant poster.
