He keeps getting more and more intense with age!

From Bronson to Taboo, he is far more intense and commanding on the screen now, how is that possible? don't actors usually tone down their performances as they grow older, i think most do except for Al Pacino and Dicaprio. Those are the only other actors i can think of who grew more and more aggressive with their roles and performances as time went by. Also he is a very lucky man, his wife is a total babe.

He's a better actor now with far more gravitas and commanding presence than in his early stuff like Star Trek: Nemesis or Wuthering Heights.

Actually Taboo makes me feel like he could play Heathcliff better now than when he actually played Heathcliff.

I got the chance to see the version of Wuthering Heights featuring Hardy when it popped up unexpectedly on PBS one night a couple of weeks ago. I'd wanted to see this since he was in it, so this was a nice surprise. And,yeah, his portrayal was definitely dark, unpredictable and edgy-----you had the sense that any minute his character was gonna snap and go off on somebody with his barely contained rage. Can't wait to see Taboo as soon as it hits DVD---it sounds nice, creepy and mysterious---especially with Hardy in it,lol. And yeah, he brings the intensity and a fierceness to the screen, straight-up (his performance in MAD MAX:FURY ROAD is a good example.) I think a reviewer compared him to the late Oliver Reed (who also brought a dark, wild intensity/fierceness to his film portrayals) and I can kind of see why the more things I see him in.

Marc_332003:
That's possibly because like most actors who work hard at it, he's simply gotten more comfortable in front of the camera over the years, and also because he's a stage-trained actor (they usually make the best film actors period, anyway, from what I've seen---like Denzel, for example.) Didn't know that he played Bill Sykes in a version of Oliver Twist (especially since Oliver Reed did one of the better versions of that role) ---I will definitely look that up,lol.
