Peaked too soon

I am one of the "George Washington" admirers, but I have disappointed by every film of his since. Unfortunately, he set a standard for himself that is too high.

Wow, I totally disagree. As a cinefile I'm usually rather snobbish in my taste of some films that are out there today, but I absolutely love Green's work. I love simplicity in film, and Green uses it well. I feel that all his movies have gotten slightly better as he goes. George Washington was obviously a huge achievement for him, but its no way getting in his way in my opinion. All the Real Girls is a poignent and beautiful movie that feels so real its painful. Undertow is brilliant. Sure it's more mainstream and more accessible than George Washington, but Green never betrayed his style, and he made it his movie.

Green is a huge breath of fresh air, even if his style is highly influenced by other filmakers, but so what? So was Godard, and Malick, and Herzog, and every other filmaker out there. If you're going to be inspired by other filmakers, then thank god they are good.
