Unlikable. No talent. neapotism.

I just saw this chick in a film and WOW - is she unlikable on screen.

Dr. Who is to entertainment what Special Olympics is to athleticism.

Considering she has a total mediocre career and never got roles in major productions, how this could be nepotism?
No one knows who she is and her acting and looks aren't a huge problem - she's ok - so I think she is exactly where she would be without a famous mother...

reply

Come on, she is the daughter of one of the most respected actresses in Hollywood. Let's not pretend for a second that she would be where she is without that on her résumé.

So she isn't the queen of indie films or summer blockbusters, but I think lot of struggling actors with zero connections would be very pleased to have constant work that she has.

Mate, I agree with you and Jack that be MS daughter is an unfair advantage, but this is no nepotism. Nepotism is to impose someone without talent. Is to directly get advantage to that person. You cannot stop people from profit by the fact she is MS daughter, or to put her to play her mother younger version or daughter because of their physical ressemblance. This is unfair, but not nepotism. Will Smith almost stop his career to ignite his son to stardom, that was nepotism. I don't see Gummer getting good roles or working with famous directors. She made her mothers daughter in one movie, several years after she started as an actress... Nepotism would see her in Mamma Mia, or that comedy with Alec Baldwin, or get roles in major productions. Be regular in a series is because she is MS daughter, but not because of nepotism. Different things.
And seriously: Jane Fonda!!!! You must be kidding. She is absurdly beautiful and a very good actress. I saw a recently a french movie with her and Daniel Bruhl, "Et si on vivait tous ensemble?", she is fantastic on it.

Nepotism is not the same of been child with a silver spoon.

Nepotism is directly interfere to put your relative into a position, doesn't matter if he is Usain Bolt and you want to give him a spot to run.

Another thing is your son profit because of you - without your interference - or someone profit over him because of you. Those situations are morally complicated, but aren't cases of nepotism. I don't disagree with your concerns, I'm only saying that when you talk about nepotism you are saying MS made something morally wrong, but I really don't think she ever impose her daughter to anyone.

Nepotism implied that Meryl Streep directly act to wrongly benefit her daughter. In other words, you are accusing Meryl.
Yes, Mamie certainly was helped by the fact of been Meryl daughter, I just do not believe Meryl act morally wrong in the benefit of her daughter.

If Mamie use her mother name, shame on her.
If producers wanted Mamie to use inderectly her mother fame, shame on them, but they only do this kind of thing because the audience has a sick curiosity over celebrities' children... So, shame on us...

I just to be clear: "us" the audience, not particularly you and me.
