I stopped watching award shows many years ago. Watching bloviating assholes pat themselves on the back and spew idiocy for the effort far outweighed any waning interest I had in the results.

However, I had to go to youtube and watch that legendary performance. Watching Hanks (prob my fav actor) squirm as Gervais basically told them all to get their awards, be humble, get the fuck off the stage is brilliant.

Gervais's monologue was the greatest seven minutes in the history of awards shows. Awards shows have become platforms for overpaid, clueless, pompous, self-righteous clowns to lecture the public about whatever their current woke agenda happens to be, which makes him exactly right for them. I'm certain he'll never be asked back, but it doesn't matter because he'll go down in history as a hero for putting all those sanctimonious twats in their place.

Hes the best. More celebs need to be put in their place. No one gives a shit about Awards or their political comments. He should host every year and just gradually get more and more vulgar as the years go by.
