Yeah, make more. It's not so great having to get by on the comics, which are supposedly canon but are kinda mediocre.

Yeah...the time to make the show was before the movie, really, since that film tied up almost all the loose ends from the show. It settled with the Reavers, weakened the Alliance's grip on the 'verse, and wrapped up several character arcs. Okay, there was more to tell, sure, and we never (on camera) got Book's story or saw the endgame of the Blue Hands Guys/ Blue Sun Corporation, but that's okay.
They could have made a second movie. I think a second film could have been done to wrap up the remaining plot threads and give us the definitive closing on the story. But that time might have been right on the heels of the first Avengers movie. Joss Whedon was a hot property then and could have pulled the strings (maybe) to get the thing made right. The cast was still around, too.
It's been too long. We got a handful of brilliant episodes and a killer movie.
