I'm not fan of the the Andy Griffith Show, and all it's corn-pone shtick.
But I thought Elinor Donahue was very lovely and captivating.
In some odd way, like Angela Cartwright was in Lost In Space.
They both had a certain presence, an elegance, while on screen.
I suppose ED more than AC, since Elinor was a grown woman at the time.
But I could look at her for hours and not regret a minute.
I just remember her crying at leaat once in every episode of "Father Knows Best".
shareSaw her in something else other than Griffith recently. The show seemed much more recent (but still old I'm sure) and she looked great. I was surprised how much I still found her appealing, outside of the crush I had on her when watching the old AG Show.

I liked Elinor's character much more than I liked Helen...
There's something about her facial structure, her cheekbones and smile, her teeth, she emanated kindness and cheerfulness and a unique beauty. I hadn't thought about her for decades but when I was reminded by catching a scene from AG, I remembered how impressed I was with her. She seemed like the perfect, modest, adult woman to a kid like me.
Other than that, though, I don't have any particular fondness for the AG Show. Sure I watched it a lot, and it was fine but I don't have any real reflections on what made it something other than a wholesome TV show.

Even Daphne the Fun Girl was better than Helen. Helen was written as a shrew, which is interesting considering background as a gangster's girlfriend.
