Great AGAIN in Looper.

I tell you, this guy. Always memorable. Was so excited to see him show up. He was cool and slick and good handling his gun. I thought his sequence with Emily was like the beginning of some Tennessee Williams play, or something. Would like to see them together again. I wish there was more of him.

I agree! I had only seen him in Assassination of Jesse James and No Country For Old Men, but I loved him in both--definitely a standout. Anyway, I saw Looper today and was pleasantly surprised to see him! He was fantastic in it.

Agreed, I'm a huge Terminator: TSCC fan so it was a pleasant surprise to see Garrett appear in Looper. He has such a strong on-screen presence, he always delivers the goods.

reply

He pretty much plays the same character in Looper as he did in TSCC. His character is trying to kill someone so that a future event doesn't happen...

Never saw "Raising Hope". Does he play a time traveling assassin in there as well?

LOL

reply

Hardly. Not a time traveler in LOOPER. Not a robot. Kind of a nice guy, just doing his job. He gets thirsty, and he, like Blunt's character, has hung onto a southern drawl. He doesn't want to kill anyone, he's just gonna take Joe in. You should check out HOPE as well. You'll see he can do comedy at an award-winning level.

I leaned in to my friend in the theater with an "OMG" when he appeared in Looper. I was so excited to see him. He is compelling in every single role and needs a starring vehicle to really put him in the spotlight. Love this guy.

reply

Yes, he was great, but his role was rather disappointing. I was expecting him and Gordon-Levitt to fight it out or to deliver some great shoot-out like in a western, instead he was killed by the annoying little kid. I feel cheated.

I recently saw the guy in Deadwood plus No Country, The Road etc and thought he was great in this too.

Once he was screen, it was like the whole movie should have been about him. The way he created tension at her door when it seems like he's just being polite was incredible.
