Two different roles in Deadwood

I just knew about it minutes ago on a website and have to go here to check. I didn't notice that at all. What the hell.

This really confused me for awhile. He was on as one character, a hated one, then came back and no one knew who he was. Took me a minute to figure out he was playing a totally different person. Kind of a strange casting choice since he played a short but major character the first time around. I could see doing this if he was more of an unnoticed character the first time.

yeah I thought that was odd too.that was very aware of it.built Milch had said once in response.to this that he doesn't like looking for new actors.

Thanks for posting this... It threw me for a loop thinking wait just a durn minute... That there is the fella that shot Wild Bill Hickock! Is he a zombie... Please no zombies in Deadwood... Thank goodness they were just completing this man's contract ( or whatever reason) by giving him another character!

Literally watching the very first scene with his 2nd character and I was so confused so I jumped onto IMDB. Maybe if you watched the show live as it aired you might not remember but I'm binge watching on hbogo.com and definitely noticed. I love this actor so I definitely noticed.

Same, but I'm watching it on Amazon prime. Also helps that I now know the actor from many, many other things he's been in the last decade (Garrett being a great "Oh it's that guy" character actor btw).

that's it. I just started the last season of Justified and he's in it. I was thinking it was the third different character he has done on the same show. But nope, it was Deadwood.
