Far left hateful DB...

I hate it when someone in a room full of people just automatically assumes when they talk about politics everyone is on the same page, agrees and will be ready to high-five in agreement. Why assume EVERYONE is a Democrat, and EVERYONE hates Trump?? Colbert...(and Seth Meyers) are those kind of DB's. Why would you do that? And risk alienating (and pissing off) up to 50% of your audience. The smart ones...like Jay Leno...Johnny Carson....Conan, etc.....were smart enough to remain neutral, and not let their politics become so obvious on their show that it seemed like some sort of political propaganda/agenda.

reply

Colbert never hid his opposition to Trump. You're just too blind in your support of Trump, and you probably call fellow Republicans RINOs.

I'll give Trump's base and most devoted Republicans credit though. They fall in line, lock step and and ready to take a bullet if their commandante tells them to. Most of the Democrats are actually very diverse and there's a lot of infighting with REAL leftists like Bernie and AOC demanding a certain agenda.

reply

sounds like people who do not have any sense of humor ... so of course comedians do not target them.

> Why would you do that? And risk alienating (and pissing off) up to 50% of your audience.

Maybe they are talking to the people in the audience and viewers on TV who actually have a sense of humor and are not always hating all the time?

reply

Your post makes no sense. Colbert is the one spewing hate. What started out as comedy, quite obviously evolved into true hatred.

reply

Maybe imaginary hate in your head ... I've never see Colbert even get close to expressing any kind of hate on this show, or anywhere else.

Your side seems to think you can run like mad to the political Right and then look back and call everyone else raging Leftists. You are only fooling yourselves, and only because you are none too bright.

reply

If you don't think Colbert truly HATES Trump, you have not been watching his show objectively for the last five years. He has crossed the line between comedy and hatred.

Like most liberals (not saying that you are one), when given a forum or opportunity to debate, you cannot just debate the facts. You have to resort to name-calling and demeaning behavior, e.g. "You are none too bright". I realize and respect that people are entitled to their political opinions. Political opinions do not represent one's intelligence level.

You are the one spewing hatred, not me.

reply

So what, everyone with a brain, and more importantly a sense of humor hates Trump. No biggie there.

You just think Liberals don't want to debate you on the facts because Conservative pretend their lies are facts, and their insults persuasive .. shove off with that baloney.

> Political opinions do not represent one's intelligence level.

Now there is something that could make a good debate, or refine.

Saying I am spewing hate ... that is a good example of what you try to make a fact when it is ridiculous Accusing me of spewing hate when I am not in the same universe as hate spewing is itself spewing hate, and that is the major Conservative tactic we see over and over in most of the comments from the Right.

You guys will do anything to avoid acknowledging facts, and nothing to accept personal responsibility but jump to greater heights of hypocrisy.

reply

I agree that Trump was a hate-monger, but I don't see "hatred" in the majority of comments from either side.

As for conservatives "not accepting personal responsibility", that's where you have it backwards. Right from the conservative playbook we believe in working hard, paying taxes, and earning a good living with minimal government intervention. Liberals believe in free healthcare, free college, and that only the rich should have to pay taxes.

Liberals blame society/others for their failures (e.g. blame slavery, racism, and the wealthy). Liberals don't believe in taking personal responsibility for college debt. Rather, student-loan forgiveness is the preference. And you don't have to take personal responsibility by securing a good job with healthcare benefits. The government will give you that for free. Conservatives believe in hard work. Liberals believe in free handouts, paid for by those who work hard.

reply

no wonder you conservatives are getting screwed over by your own leaders when you believe crap like that.

reply

If that's what he believes, I'd rather he be authentic than pretend. If Jay Leno really believed down the middle that's okay too.

reply

I'm all for humorous pokes, if it's even-handed like what Letterman did EARLY in his career). But what Colbert and Meyers do is angry, and mean-spirited...and not even remotely balanced down the middle. If either of them EVER took a poke at a Democrat, it would be playful and harmless. What they do with Trump just seems like hatred, and agenda-driven. If anyone wants to lap that up, that's fine. Maybe they ARE preaching to their base. But don't anyone try to call it for anything other than what it is.

Honestly, I don't know why ANYONE would fall lock-step into group think on EITHER "side". People have a hard time being impartial and objective these days. I happen to be an Independent, and judge each issue on its own merits. When people speak in absolutes, paint with one broad brush and can't be objective....and can't discuss the pros and cons of either side impartially, they just lose all sorts of credibility with me. I think both "sides" are full of weasels.

reply

If you don't like it why watch it and come on here and complain about it? There are so many millions of things to watch these days. Just move on to something you like.

reply

He is a Dem simp. He invites Obama in his show and plays with him instead of asking him about all his wars for example

reply

Yeah, definitely should throw him in handcuffs and march him off to the World Court. LOL ... you are ridiculous, but sometimes entertaining.

reply

I love Colbert and Myers and More Power to them.

reply

Conservative "humor" doesn't work on TV (have you checked out "Gutfield?"), just like liberal thought is absent from talk radio. That's just the way it is. Leno was lame, Carson was eons ago--before our culture became so polarized. So, like I said, go watch Gutfield and don't watch the late night comics you hate but can't seem to ignore.

reply

There is PLENTY of fodder to poke fun of on the left.
However, there is a major media bias to the left....so of course they will focus on negative shots against the right.
To think otherwise seems pretty naive.

There is no balance whatsoever in the jabs (comedic, mean-spirted, agenda-driven, or otherwise). It's one thing if these talk show hosts were even-handed...but they are not. Not even close.
