Netflix's puppet now being used to push a pseudo woke agenda

It's no coincidence that since returning to showbiz, Dave has had no serious movies, roles nor television appearances (outside of a few contrived SNL skits). What they're not telling you is that Netflix has this man by the balls. That $60M came with strings attached and left him no better than when he bailed on Comedy Central. Their latest ploy is to sensationalize what was a mild comedy special into a hour long hate speech (which it wasn't).

I don't buy anything he says nor the intent of the company due to the fact that tons of their content is super woke itself. Why exactly are they putting up this front? I don't know...maybe for the free publicity. Am I against the overall message of doing away with woke culture? Absolutely not. In fact I'm all for it. All in all I just feel this is just a disingenuous attempt at pandering more than it is to actually fighting for a change in Hollywood's newfound practices. So who's benefitting from it? Netflix of course and also Dave who now looks like a comedic martyr despite having a $100M safety net around the corner from this company that will own his jokes and likeness for years to come.

I think your post needs some examples and quotes in order to get your point across.

becasue things like :
a mild comedy special into a hour long hate speech (which it wasn't).
content is super woke
disingenuous attempt at pandering
Hollywood's newfound practices

mean various different things to different people

A say mild because he must've made one or two trans jokes that would've went unnoticed if it had not been for the sensationalist media. In fact I can guarantee you the people that are upset couldn't quote you exactly what he said. Hell...whether it was true or not he mentioned being molested by a priest but I've yet to hear anyone bring that up.

content is super woke

One example is that they have a section dedicated to Black Lives Matter. There's another that I just found strictly for LGBTQ movies.

disingenuous attempt at pandering

There's an audience (rightfully so) that's fed up with woke culture. Netflix apparently sees this and imo has chose Dave to champion the outcry. I've been following Dave through out his entire career and it just seems odd that he'd abandon his successful schtick in favor of going full on radical with this. Please note I'm not saying comedians aren't capable of such change but it's just a little odd that he'd go this route out of the blue during these specials.

Hollywood's newfound practices

SJW/Woke Culture

thanks for clarifying!

although , i'd argue that " champion the outcry." is the opposite of pandering
alought in this game of opposed views pandering to one side is 'outcry against' to the other

Movies are a huge time and life-changing commitment. Why would he put himself through that rather than make a fortune cashing in on easy comedy specials?

reply

That's debatable. It's usually the headliners that are required to go through such commitments. Dave's been a comedic supporting character at best. We're also not talking about MCU level sagas here. It's been what? Almost eight years since his comeback and you're telling me that we're not able to see him in anything outside of a handful of hour long specials? Checking his filmography page he had a couple of brief movie appearances (Chiraq + A Star is Born). Maybe you're right but also keep in mind Netflix for some entertainers holds exclusivity rights to your likeness and image. Just food for thought.
