And this, boys and girls, is why socialism will never work. People talk a lot about the abstract greater good, and about acting for it, but this is how they act when their own money is at stake. People are simply not motivated by the abstract greater good, they are motivated by self interest, and when the rubber meets the road, they will act accordingly.
