Carrie Fisher death

I don't even know what to say, with so many wonderful and talented people passing away. Carrie was such a strong advocate for mental health reforms and treatment, as well as a talented actress and writer. Bryan Lourd, Billie's father was roommates with Simon in college. Simon and Matt are very close to the Lourd family, what a sad occasion this has to be for them.

I was just reading Matt's tweet of condolence and love for George Michael when this came over the news.

Amongst Carrie's raw reminisces she was always appreciative of Bryan as a father and otherwise kind and discreet.
It's maybe of note that amongst all the entertainers at her father's tribute concert that Billie chose family friend Matt as her duet partner.
And a shadow over Christmas for many.

I can't even imagine the heartbreak of this family right now. I had forgotten about that duet Billie and Matt did to honor her father. She's lucky to have such a devoted father and good friends around her now.

When I saw Simon named as Billie's spokesman announcing Carrie's death, I thought what a comfort to have someone close to step into that role rather than a nameless employee of Bryan Lourd's at CAA.
Also Simon was a guest a Debbie Reynolds table when Carrie presented her mother with an award earlier this year. SAG? So there is some relationship beyond just Simon & Bryan.
I did think wouldn't it have been something to see Matt perform with Debbie, though I suppose it's a few years since Debbie performed?
And though as best I recall Carrie Fisher didn't name drop her friendship circle, I'd have loved to hear some witty anecdote about Matt.

I cannot believe Debbie died just one day later. so unbelievably sad.

As been said for a while this year from beginning to end has been unbelievably sad. So sorry for the family.

I'm still reeling over George Michael, what losses through the entertainment world.

George is who affects me most as well.

Debbie and Carrie were so iconic in their own unique way, that and the tragic timing of their deaths make me think at some point there may be a public memorial from all their many friends and family. Matt may play a role if that should happen.

Bryan's youngest daughter Ava and Billie's little sister, is close to Matt and Simon's boys. I saw where the boys stayed with Bryan and Bruce, when Matt's grandfather died and he and Simon were in Texas. So yes, I think there is a close connection between them all too.
