He is a great young actor and I think that he will be a major star

I have read your postings and you are all wrong ! He gives great nuanced performances, he was great in Down Low and I cannot wait for 7 days in Utopia. Have been following his career since he was a kid. Just ask Robert Duval what he thinks of his acting ability. He had glowing things to say and Robert Duval is one of the greatest actors in film and television. As for his southern accent, I love it, since I am southern and from Georgia. He is from Alabama. I like that he still uses it and makes no apologies for it. The first thing Hollywood wants to do is get rid of it. He does not make southerners look bad. There are a lot of great actors from the South and numerous ones working in the business. Lots of films are being made in the South right now and tv too. Stop bashing this talented young actor and just enjoy his work.

I agree. I think he's a natural.

I think he has become a good actor, but couldn't stand him when he was younger. I think as he gets older he is, as you say, much more nuanced. Get Low was one of the best movies ever and he was spot on with the Oscar level actors he played against. I'll be watching for him with interest in the future.

I agree. Lucas Black has definitely matured into a promising actor. Seeing him perform with Duval was like seeing his future. I also respect his decision to decline roles that require him to alter his speech.

I have been and shall remain a fan of Lucas Black - "plucky" is how I choose to remember many of his characters and I've always thought his native voice did justice to them. However, Lucas' knack as a "natural" performer (as many critics and reviews have praised him) is good, but for only so long, at least where great roles are offered; formal training, perhaps in certain areas, can help make a good performer a (potentially) great actor. Lucas' role as "Jeep" in Legion was limited and squandered his ability; perhaps it wasn't sufficient to allow him to better explore where he could take the character, in terms of depth, in order to gain greater range, possibly turning-up better scripts and opportunities for important supporting and lead roles. His recent work in "Get Low" was really good and shows his true potential as an adult member of an ensemble. While not always mainstream, Indie films allow a growing actor to build a solid resume and practice his craft.

I've liked him since "American Gothic". He's a very natural actor, good looking and seems very likeable and I always thought he would become a bigger star. I do think the accent issue is what has held him back from being more successful as it limits the roles he can play. I'm not sure if the accent thing is a refusal or inability to change accents for roles.

He looks like he has a good year coming up with Gus Van Sant's "The Promised Land" and a pivotal role in "42" Jackie Robinson biopic as Pee-Wee Reese. Playing Southeners of course!

He is so good that is why the other fella from Fast & Furious 3 got to be in the other sequels even though he died.

Its that man again!!

I agree. I want to see him in better roles. He is awesome. I have like him since The War, American Gothic and Sling Blade. I wish him great success.

If you talk with accent like his, you should really learn to speak. Its type of accent that will be made fun of nearly anywhere on entire planet.

And for 'will be a major star', that ship has sailed. Born in '82, that makes him 31 now. Odds of somebody suddenly becoming popular at 31 are virtually nonexistent. He just does not have marketable look.
