The people celebrating him being cancelled are probably the same people who complain about cancel culture whenever a comedian is cancelled for making a joke about trans people. Nothing should be off limits in comedy. Surely nobody truly believes there's even a tiny chance the comment will even slightly increase the odds of Trump being shot again. Yes, I'd say the same thing if Biden was shot.

Was he truly cancelled? We use that word kind of loosely. He got a lot of criticism, but it was Black's decision to cancel the tour. I got the impression there might be some issues between him and his bandmate, Kyle Gass, because of it.

Well a lot of people are saying it was actually the venues that cancelled them. Even if it was Black's decision, I'd argue the fact that he felt the need to means he was cancelled by the internet's definition.
