If Trump wins, I just hope he listens to his advisors and switches his platform on Ukraine. If Putin's stormtroopers take Ukraine the world will become a far worse place.
I honestly wasn't going to vote for Trump because of his Ukraine stance, but flipped because of the Banana republic style weaponizing of the justice department in that sham trial and conviction - I'm trying to balance which one is worse for the U.S. and I think the loss of our Republic would be worse, so right now I'm voting Trump this fall.

The guy is using the Moscow rule book for propaganda - justifying actions by biased and misrepresented historical facts. Putin used it to justify the war in his essay "On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians", where in most of it he outlines the genesis of the Ukrainian nation and territories and then says something like "Fine, nations arise for one or another reason, but the Ukrainians got more territories from us than they initially had". There is nothing about NATO surrounding Russia, USA provoking a war, nazies in Kiev or anything like that. This is just the fodder they feed to the sheeple.
In the bigger picture, often declining empires make a push to recover lost territories. Putin was concerned that one day Ukraine could join NATO and he won't be able to fulfill his dreams, born from too much salivation over old maps.
What is the wrong side? My belief is that it's not our responsibility to send money or troops to fight in Ukraine against Russia. I'd prefer Russia not invade Ukraine, though it seems they were pushed into it by those who wanted a war. The bottom line for me is that the U.S. should not be running around the world fighting wars.
As for right/left, my point above is that the left was fine with Russia in Ukraine when it served their purposes, and now they want a war for the same reason. It's all corruption and greed, and soldiers to sent out to die on behalf of corrupt greedy leaders.

Why is that the only thing that matters? To whom does it matter? Is it America's responsibility to go in there and pick a side and fight a war? And who says Ukraine didn't want a war? There were certainly those in Ukraine who did, as they are now making billions of dollars because of it. Let Russia and Ukraine work it out, and if other countries want to join in, let them. The U.S. has no reason to be involved, either financially or militarily.

Ukraine and Russia are not two exclusive entities. Ukraine IS Russia. The Russian people trace their roots to the Kievan Rus. "Rus" as in BelaRUS and RUSsia. Their capital was Kiev, the current capital of Ukraine. Ukraine is not a formal ally, not a member of NATO. This is essentially a Russian civil war. Who gives a shit?
Further, people talk about Russia taking Poland next, as if it's the same thing. As if Putin is Hitler. Poland has existed for 1000yrs. In 1989, it left the Warsaw Pact and is now a member of the European Union and NATO. Not only would a Russian invasion of Poland trigger a global response and rightly so, Poland would probably kick their asses without much assistance. The Nazi's took Poland is just over a month. Russia has been hacking away at Ukraine for nearly 2.5 years.
Ukraine is NOT Russia. All you need to do is ask Ukrainians. 8 out of 10 Ukranains speak - get ready - Ukranian, not Russian. Since Ukraine is not part of Russia even if it was under the unfortunate thumb of the USSR, it's not a Russian civil war. Civil war by definition means two factions fighting for control over a single country. Ukraine just wants to be left alone and not deal with those Russian assholes - they want no part of Russia at all.
Putin is acting very much like Hitler. Putin trying to take Ukraine is very much analogous to Hitler taking Poland in 1939 and splitting it with - again, get ready - the Russians.
That Putin's stormtroopers are inferior to Hitlers doesn't eliminate the comparison.
