There are a thousand of these youtube "Why Hollywood Won't Cast *Insert Actor* Anymore" Videos that are just made by some youtuber in their basement. Some people choose to do other things with their lives. That's what she did, she retired, moved on from acting. Doesn't mean that Hollywood stopped casting her. She probably just got fed up with the roles drying up. Around 2008 was when Hollywood really started to decline in quality, anyway. She got out at the right time.
One of her last roles was in some TV show playing a cop in NYC. Right about the time when alot of Hollywood stars were getting into TV because, that's where the money and attention was. But that doesn't mean that's where the quality productions were being made.
If you ask me, she got out at the perfect time, rather than staying in an industry in decline, settling for roles she didnt really like, that may have got critical acclaim and awards (Which really mean nothing).
Sure she could have stayed acting, probably been in some successful streaming series, but what's the point if she isn't really interested in those projects, or isn't being inspired much? A career from 14-39 of making films is a big body of work anyway.
Also I completely disagree with the sentiment she was a bad actress, I consider her one of the best of her generation.

She's as good an actress as anyone else.
A better actress by far than emori is an essayist.
She is also less of a one note actress than emori is a one not critic, he can be counted on to slam the women, unless they show a lot of skin in their movies. He's very one-note.

To your information I personally dont like when actors are forced to show nudity on screen. Its always forced, fake and no one enjoys it. And tv shows must stop doing it.
And Leelee Sobieski IS BAD ACTRESS. Always was. Thats why her career went nowhere despite Hollywood trying to make her happen for a few years by casting her everywhere.
Hollywood always chooses few faces and try to make them stars. Maybe they are nepo kids, maybe slept their way, maybe something else. Suddenly they appear out of nowhere and are all the time in news and 2 movies a year. Some of them eventually make it to become stars. Some just lack charisma and have zero response from public.So Hollywood producers see that and just stop casting them in big things. And those actors are shocked and dont understand what is happening, why suddenly their agents stopped receiving invitations to big movies and only get some low budget crap no one will watch.
This is Leelee Sobieski. She had no acting talent and no charisma. Hollywood tried and stopped. That why roles suddenly dried up. Same happened to Eva Mendes, Jessica Biel, Taylor Kitch, Jennifer Garner and many other. While people like Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence, Tom Hiddleston etc stayed. Because they received response from public.
Now the only reason why Eva, Jessica and Jennifer are in the relevance is because they are/were married to famous celebrities. But it doesnt help getting roles. They are just in gossip sites.

Yes because the actresses Hollywood casts now in 2023, are always talented, they never, ever cast actresses solely for their physical appearance. You could just take Leelee's name out of your post and put Mindy Kailing in or any forgettable current actress who Hollywood is re-casting in a bunch of garbage. And the post would be exactly the same. So, I'm not sure why you have this one-man crusade against one single actress from the early 2000s, when there are a plethora of terrible current actresses being cast over and over, in terrible Hollywood remakes, SOLELY for their physical attributes. So WHY ARE you focussing one ONE person?
