an underrated singer

He's more underrated as a bass player. Just like Ringo's drum cred, I think the Beatles take a lot of hits from snide people looking to tear down their rep as the best band ever.
Paul's bass work is melodic and jumpin'. He brought in a unique voice to the instrument.
I've heard that too. Listen to Abbey Road where the first two song aren't Paul but his bass really augments what is going on if you pay attention.
I'm not naturally a Macca guy but within the Beatles, I can't deny he was incredibly creative and influential, and for his bass playing alone.
Come Together is one of the coolest bass lines of all time. Simple, yes, but so boss.
sharehe is number three on this list

Well-deserved. He makes it onto some of those lists.
To be honest, I have noticed him starting to pop up more on those things. In a few years, he might be recognised for his bass playing - deservedly.
He is highly rated on a lot of such lists. Great player, but he seems to get what attention he deserves! I wouldn't call him underrated.
shareWow. Nice list. Paul's bass playing is well deserved -- https://youtu.be/u97_inloBmY
shareNo. 11 on Rolling Stone's list of top 100 all-time singers:

John Lennon was No. 5.....
What are you on about, Paul is widely considered one of the greatest rock and roll bass players of all time, and influenced countless musicians.
sharePaul McCartney is great. He and Ringo Star are the only Beatles left.
shareUnderrated by 'tards maybe.

Sir Paul is many things, many of them truly great, but one thing he is not is an underrated singer. He sings on key, which is all a singer who sings his own songs needs to do.
I'd rather stick pins in my ears than hear Paul sing Christmas carols or American Standards..
Actually, I diverted the attention toward his Bass playing, but ...
Hell, no, he's not an Underrated singer !
I can't think of many singers who are genuinely rated higher than Macca.
Madonna? Mariah? Adele? Whoever John Legend is, or those Canadian dudes?
Even Sinatra. Macca could sing in so many styles, and I don't this has escaped the notice of anyone who's actually paying attention.
He may be Old and Passe, but in the pantheon of singers, I don't think he's underrated.
john lennon did most of the singing for the beatles. that's why paul is overlooked.
shareThis isn't even close to being true.
At the beginning, Lennon did handle more of the singing, but when you heard Paul doing his thing, I don't think anyone thought he wasn't as good, if not better. Later albums, they went toe-to-toe with great songs, slugging it out.
Paul could shout like Little Richard and croon like a pop idol. He sang Gospel, he'd put on his Bad Boy pants and spit out Helter Skelter.
The way I see it, The Beatles was Lennon's project and he started out as the leader, but it didn't take long for Macca's talents to quickly make him the co-leader. And of course, early on they decided to be co-writers on all their material, so Macca must have had a bit of influence on the relationship.
I find it hard to think anyone thinks Sir Paul is Underrated in anything, except current taste, which isn't much of a barometer of ratings or taste.
5 octave range. Up there with Elvis, Mariah Carey, and some dude from Judas Priest:

He still sounds like a goof. Looking at that list, I see a ton of better singers, both in the article and comments.
