Why did ViacomCBS keep quiet after Snoop Dogg threatened Gayle King?

VH1 star Snoop Dogg and CBS This Morning anchor Gayle King both work for ViacomCBS, yet the freshly merged company stayed mum amid the rapper's threats to King for bringing up Kobe Bryant's 2003 sexual assault case in an interview with Lisa Leslie, as Lloyd Grove points out. "For almost a week—and even as this is written—ViacomCBS chairman Shari Redstone and the publicly traded company’s chief executive, Bob Bakish, have remained chillingly silent as the disturbing spectacle of one of their franchise stars publicly threatening another played out in the national media circus," says Grove. Grove also notes that Martha Stewart declined to criticize her VH1 co-star Snoop. "Snoop speaks for himself. Read his comments,” she told Extra at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, days before Snoop's formal apology on Wednesday. Grove does give credit to CBS News president Susan Zirinsky for calling the threats against King "reprehensible."
