He had a brief stint at fame during that time, trying to imitate his brother, Nick, and become a pop singer himself. I think he's the one who sang "I want candy," which is now often used at Halloween for trick-or-treating. A few of his songs showed up in the soundtracks of fun teen films like "Princess Diaries" and "A Cinderella Story." He dated both Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff, and the two of them actually fought over this guy! Hilary Duff even wrote a song "Haters" about Lindsay, that's how mad she was over the other girl dating Aaron Carter. Not surprisingly, Aaron had a guest appearance on one of the episodes of "Lizzie McGuire" back in the day.

I kept wondering why he suddenly disappeared, and then read that he got into drugs and his family quietly put him in rehab. Guess it didn't work, based on what happened in the 20 years since then.

It's really sad to see what happened to him. He was only 9 when he had his first platinum record, and 12 when his even more successful follow-up came out. He never really had a chance, and he's yet another child chewed up and spit out by the entertainment industry.

Yeah I heard that story about Hilary and Lindsay, both were fighting like cats to be the first one with him, they were both gold-diggers. Don't know which one he ended up "with". Maybe neither.

Both of them eventually dumped him and went on with their lives. Hillary actually never needed his money or fame, she already had it, and she's probably still living off the residuals she got from her Lizzie McGuire stuff and some of her early 2000s films.

Lindsay would have gone the same route, had she not done that stupid coke thing in 2007 and become a nutjob druggie that was in and out of rehab for 10-ish years. She's now a courtesan for some minor prince overseas in the Middle-East, or so I've heard. (It's not something to be proud of, and guys like him are a dime a dozen, so don't get excited about her being an official whore to a sand-rat prince).
