He became the youngest man in history to win the Best Actor Oscar for his role in 'The Pianist', but Brody has been surprisingly absent, spending the last couple of years painting. Now he's returning to our screens, in 'De Niro' and the new series of 'Peaky Blinders'. He talks to Kaleem Aftab

He’s annoying. Not Jesse Eisenberg annoying, but annoying just the same.

This former A list mostly movie actor who is an Academy Award winner/nominee and saw his career go to the crapper because of his general all around a-hole behavior was being his usual self to a hooker he hired for the night while out of the country. Adrien Brody

He killed it in Peaky Blinders.

"spending the last couple of years painting"

He's one of my favourite actors but his paintings are terrible. Should have focused on acting, that's what he is good at. Same goes for Jim Carrey.

reply

Dont discourage him who knows what would happen. Remember what happened when a certain young Austrian painter got rejected from art school.

Ha. Yup. If there’s anyone who could potentially bring about the 4th Reich it’s Adrien Brody.
I loved season 4 of The Peaky Blinders.

In our latest WTF series, we take a look at some of our favorite stars and filmmakers who have seemingly disappeared or altered their careers over the years to the point that begs the question; WTF happened? Now, before you think we're just picking on celebrities or running some gossip rag stuff, think again! We take a fun (and sometimes funny), researched and fair approach, looking at all angles that led our subject to wherever they are now (which isn't necessarily a bad place at all). If anything, it answers the question on where these fine folks went, how they got there and where you can find 'em now.

In our latest episode of WTF Happened To... we take a look at the career of Adrien Brody, who appeared mostly as a supporting actor in films like The Thin Red Line and Summer of Sam, until taking home an Oscar for Best Actor in Roman Polanski's The Pianist in 2002. After that he did a number of high profile films, including Peter Jackson's King Kong, M. Night Shyamalan's The Village, Predators, Rian Johnson's The Brothers Bloom and Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited/The Grand Budapest Hotel before disappearing into a number of odd roles and odd films that failed to show off his caliber of talent (although he did make a recurring appearance on Peaky Blinders). Brody continues to work steadily, but will we see him return to the kinds of roles that helped him take home the gold? Let's take a look at this fine actor's career to figure out WTF Happened to Adrien Brody!

I'm also going to say Adrien Brody, even though he was my favorite thing about the latest season of "Succession."

I'm going to venture that winning the Best Actor Oscar for The Pianist did him very few favors because it was Roman Polanski's film, and that was weird/awkward.

Also, amid generally unfavorable career trade winds post-Oscar, Brody has been distinguished by his ongoing romance with Harvey Weinstein's ex, Georgina Chapman, which is also weird/awkward.
