faith?
anyone know what his religious beliefs are???
paul
why does it matter? i mean *beep* honestly. you've lived this long without knowing what his faith is, if you found out he was an atheist, would you lose respect?
kill yourself
I know right I totally agree with you! His faith doesn't make him any less or better of an actor. And also if they've been a 'fan' for this long without knowing his faith, will they die if he's atheist?!? LMAO
shareHe is Jewish.
shareAll I know is that his paternal great-great grandfather was a married reverend from PA, which rules out Catholic on his father's side of the family. He's only Jewish if his mother is Jewish, which seems unlikely if she has Portuguese ancestors. To sum it up, he's probably a Christian.
shareI guessed his father's side is Jewish, Weiss is a jewish name right? Yeah, Portuguese are usually Catholic right? I think his mother is Catholic and so Jon is, like I said in my post below. I wonder if Jon's (estranged?) father actually practices the Jewish faith himself? Religious conflict between mom and dad? Just a guess.
shareWeiss is a German name that literally translates to "White" in English. It doesn't necessarily imply Jewish faith. I did some research and found out that Jon's aforementioned ancestor was a German (and English) speaking Protestant pastor, so it seems likely that Jon's father is a Protestant, too.
shareOh ok, I had heard that Jon's dad, Steve, is Jewish but just on internet message boards, I think it was just speculation. I have heard that Weiss is a Jewish name from people, maybe they are mistaken. Jon's mom, Claudine, her maiden name is Taylor, is that an English name or Portuguese? Because I heard it was an English name but I am pretty sure she is Portuguese because I have seen pictures of her and her skin is tan. This tracing family tree stuff is interesting. I like to find out about my own family history and trace it. That would make sense if Jon's father is Protestant, there isn't much conflict between Protestant and Catholic, I don't think. I am Protestant myself.
shareHer maiden name is actually Gonsalves. She's the daughter of John C. Gonsalves and Lila Gonsalves, both of Ripon, CA. It seems like she has always had family ties to Northern California. This makes sense seeing as California has the largest Portuguese population of all US states. The family of Jon's father on the other hand has been living in PA for many generations. Maybe they all moved to Sacramento in the summer of 1986 because she wanted to be closer to her relatives, who knows. After all, Sacramento is pretty close to where her mother and father lived. The "official" story seems to be that Jon's father got a new job in Sacramento which forced them to move.
