lol, my goodness this was discussed at length like 2 years ago. That's a great pic of it though! But if you look at page 2 there is a whole thread on it, in a recent picture thread or something. It is really wierd and I was baffled by it. I wonder if being a vegetarian has anything to do with his current height? My children are not going to be vegetarians.

Well, meat has proteins and good things in it. I think it couldn't have hurt for Jon to have eaten meat while he was in his growing years. Maybe his body missed out on nutrients that could have helped him grow taller. I don't really know but I'm just saying it couldn't hurt. I think vegetarians at least have vitamin supplements right? Like I said, I don't really know but I don't want my children to be vegetarians, I want the best for them, animals are secondary. I mean, I would have to research it more but I do think that eating meat helps your body, at least certain good kinds of meat.

SMOKING kind of cancels out these "BENEFITS" if you ask me.
Smoking contaminates the environment of those around you. Eating meat doesnt do that.

I see NO logical reason to be a vegan and consider it healthy, and then smoke.
Seems like hypocracy to me.

What people don't realize is that vegetarians CAN be healthy, but it's all a matter of doing it right. And it as easy as it sounds, it's really not. You have to do research.

the reason why some people get the idea that vegetarianism isn't healthy is because they're looking at people that are scrawny, pale, and sickly. What happens is some people just declare "I am no longer eating meat!" and then jump on this high horse with out doing any research whatsoever. They just think they;ll eat some plants and that's it. It doesn't work that way. You have to have meals planned out and you have to know how much you're taking in that can substitute the amount of protein that you would need to get if you were to eat meat.

Vegetarianism isn't simple. So for instance I knew a girl that did the very same thing and just hopped on her high horse with absolutely no research or thought into what to actually do to be vegetarian and she did it for 6 months and she was sick all the time. I said to her "Sweetie, I think you need to eat some eat, you don't know what you're doing." Thankfully for her sake she caved in and started eating meat again because that girl had no idea what she was doing, she was killing herself.

I also have two distant cousins that are vegetarians and they live across the country and they came and visited and they were all pale and blue looking and their legs were about as wide as my forearm. Not good.

So you CAN be healthy being vegetarian and vegan but you have to do it the right way. I for one can't bring myself to go through all that, therefore I am a carnivore.

One more story, I was on a study abroad trip in St. Petersburg Russia in the dead of winter. There was a girl who was vegan and she was DYING. We had to walk around in the winter, run to catch buses, walk really fast through the metros, sometimes RUN down the huge long escalator which takes 5 minutes to get all the way down if you stand still, we were going on group excursions. She had no time to eat the proper 6-8 meals a day that you need to be a healthy vegan and she was burning all this energy that she didn't have because she wasn't eating properly, she couldn't do it anymore. She finally forced herself to eat meat because it was the only way, then she got used to eating meat. That was a wise decision on her part.

A) you're an omnivore.
B) plenty of meat eaters don't eat properly either.

reply

You're correct, I am an omnivore. I was simply pointing out that vegetarians CAN be healthy but the problem is that many of them don't do their research when they try to take on that life style and they end up becoming those sickly skinny folks with colds and runny noses.

And yes..I'm well aware plenty of meat eaters don't eat properly. I do, however ;) grass fed all the way! including my veggies ;)

Only people with money say that money doesn't matter.
