That happened quickly, I only just found out he was dying! He must've been in a coma on life support or something.

In any case, I only saw him in Saving Private Ryan, and he made a great second-in-command foil for Tom Hanks's character.

Indeed. Was always rooting for him to turn it around. He was one of those elevating character actors, whatever he was in he made it better. And so many films I loved and he always made them that much better. What a filmography.

This is sad. He was a messed-up individual, but he always put in a good performance. He's one of those guys you think is eventually going to get it together and have a successful comeback. My favorite performances were Sergeant Horvath in Saving Private Ryan and Burchenal in Red Planet. The friendship between Sizemore and Val Kilmer's characters in Red Planet was great. They reminded me so much of my best friend since grade school in the Sizemore role and me in the Kilmer role.

Loved his performance in bringing out the dead.
