Greatest chemistry with ...?

Notwithstanding the fact that he's never had anything but good screen chemistry with any actress... the answer, of course, is:

Shirley Henderson.

What's so oddly charming about this is that she is not what I'd call a "looker" while Rufus is ravishingly handsome. They're no Brangelina (thank god for that) and yet they have the most remarkable chemistry whenever they're paired together onscreen. That breaks the rules, because isn't it absolutely taken for granted that a gorgeous man must be paired with a gorgeous woman?

And just by the way, wasn't Rufus (and Shirley) simply fantastic in Taming of the Shrew?

I saw Taming and am in love with that little movie! They are great together--has he been in anything else with her?

reply

Good heavens, yes!!!

You must see them (well, Rufus most of all) in this:

I'm sure you'll love it. But whether you do or don't, come back and let me know what you think. :o)

Anyway, Taming of the Shrew is the better of the two when it comes to Sewell-Henderson screen chemistry.

Their performances in Charles II were superb. I would love to see them in more productions together!

Oh, and is is just me, or did anyone else find him extremely fetching, cuddly, *censored* whatever as he reclined on the couch?

No it's not just you. I love when he tells her to come and sit on him. That was my thought exactly.

Shirley and Rufus create magic together I do hope they work together again.

I kissed a frog, he was neither princely or charming.....Bobbitt

No, not just you. When he's reclining on the couch, he looks utterly delectable. And when he tells her to come and sit on him... oh, heavens. I melt into a puddle on the floor.

I also find him declicious at the end of the movie when she tells him she's pregnant and he friskily warns her, "God, I'm going to shag you right here, right now."

Taming of the shrew was one funny movie, lol.

Rufus and Shirley had me dying. And when he showed up at the wedding in that get up, I lost it, lol. This guy is so funny. He is such a versatile actor.

He and Catherine McCormack are SCORCHING together in Dangerous Beauty. OMG!
