I get if you really do not like someone, but making fun the person because they have a deadly virus is a pretty classless and needlessly mean. Especially saying that you feel sorry for the virus rather than the person.
For months now... MONTHS... we've been hearing Trump and his supporters denying the seriousness of COVID: it's a Liberal plot to take him down, it's no more serious than the flu, wearing masks is stupid, etc. And yet, now that he has it and people want to poke a little fun at the karma of the situation, NOW it's suddenly a deadly virus and the humor is classless and mean.
That is hypocrisy in its highest form.
If was announced that Trump was going to be out of action for a few days because he picked up totally non-threatening stomach bug and people wanted to make jokes about his diet or how they felt sorry for the stomach bug, no one would bat an eye. But now that HE is the one with COVID, now all of a sudden it's a serious, nasty, life-threatening illness and making jokes about the karma of the whole situation is totally off the table.
I'm sorry... it doesn't work that way. If you've been preaching for months that this is something that we shouldn't be that concerned about, that we should be sending everyone back to work and school because it's just not that bad, then you open yourself up for humor at your expense when those claims bite you in the backside. As long as that humor doesn't advocate for death or life-long complications, which none of the jokes on SNL did, then its all fair game.
Of course, if Trump himself wants to make fun of someone getting a serious illness (as he did when Hillary Clinton got pneumonia back in 2016) or having a life-long disability like cerebral palsy, that's all well and good, right?
First off, I never said COVID was not serious and I have never advocated that is was not life threatening. The death rate increases dramatically at an advanced age (mid 70s is getting up there). So in what way is that not possibly advocating for death? If you do not care for the person in any way that is fine, but making fun of someone who could die and saying you feel sorry for the disease is not funny and yes it should be off the table. Also, Trump did not make fun of Clinton when she got pneumonia; he used it saying that she was not fit to be the President (I did not agree with that and would never use that against someone). I never said that Trump was great, I just said poking fun at something that is life threatening is never funny.
That is pure bullshit. Denying the seriousness? When the Dems called any travel ban an overreaction. Xenophobic! And encouraged people to go out and do business as usual?
Wrong President Trump recognized the seriousness of it back in January when the Democrats were busy with their fake impeachment. Then they called his travel ban racist. They have lost all credibility in this matter and should be completely ashamed of themselves
Probably because Biden was lying through his teeth (Biden also did his fair share of laughing and middle school level insults such as "shut up"), actions speak louder than words and Trump's actions clearly show that he was taking the virus seriously from the beginning, the Democrats were not. Trump did not think the virus was funny at all, he was laughing at the absurdity of Biden's claim that Trump killed 200,000 Americans. Come on man....
