I'm just learning about him

I first came across him with the films from Roger Corman. I never knew he was American. He sounds so English/British in the films.

Also recently, been watching interviews with him. Incredibly charming man, knowledgeable and it seems a true gentleman. He's become one of my favourite actors.

A joy to behold on screen.

I've never seen a movie with Vincent Price that wasn't in some way entertaining.

reply

His films may have varied in quality, but he was always great in them.

reply

i was surprised when i found out he was American too. A lot of actors from that era had vague accents. I always thought Ray Milland was English too.

reply

Yes, I don't think I ever caught a trace of Milland's Welsh accent slipping through.

reply

Oh he's Welsh! I thought he was American lol. Wrong on both counts.

Price moved around a lot - studied in England when he was younger as well as been on stage there before he was famous and he already had strong English heritage - he was a descendent of the first known English child born to the pilgrims in the US. That's probably where the Englishness comes from that many associate him with.

Interesting. Thanks for the info.

I'm watching the Roger Corman films for Halloween. Tons of fun.

reply

They are really enjoyable.

Great actor and an incredibly charismatic star.

Check out ‘Champagne for Caesar’, if you can. Price displays an incredible gift for comedy in that one - he is hilarious. It also stars Ronald Colman - making it two of the greatest voices in Hollywood playing off one another.

reply

Thanks. I've been looking to watch something of Vincent again.
