When did Joaquin Phoenix become more famous than just being known as “River Phoenix’s brother?” It seems like nowadays, River is remembered more so as “Joaquin’s brother who died young,” so what point did the perception shift?
shareI would probably say around 05 and Walk the Line. Yes, he most definitely gave a ton of great performances prior, not arguing that. However, I think there was a shift with Walk the Line because that was the point in his career when he officially segued from supporting actor to leading actor.
Then you just add time into the equation. Sadly, the more time passes, the more River becomes a distant memory. I mean me personally I grew up with River, and he is still a favorite of mine to this day. But it kinda happens that way.
