He's been famous since he was very young. Lots of child stars become reclusive as adults. Except that most child stars also develop drug habits and retire at a very young age. Credit to Joaquin for handling that type of fame better than most

It's his life and he can live it anyway he wants as long as he's not hurting anyone. He's not the first or last actor who doesn't like the limelight. He's one of the best actors living today and has produced some fantastic work and he wants to live a life as a recluse with Rooney Mara by his side then good for him.
