It seems like he was making a joke. The joke being that River Phoenix and Heath Ledger were talented actors, and Keanu is notoriously bad.

shareIf that's true, then these people have yet to learn that "public discussion" and "trending" doesn't equal profits. It doesn't matter how many people are talking about it, or many social media posts/tweets there are about it, if nobody is buying the product. This will only push people away.

That’s great for movie producers, but as a movie fan, you know what you are going to get. He’s never going to blow you away with his performance, he’s going to range from ok to bad depending on how much they ask him to do. Any time he has to do an accent it’s pretty painful.
What Keanu does have going for him is that he is extremely likeable, which is why there is some blow back. Imagine if he said Steven Seagal instead would people react the same way?
I’m any event I think it was an attempt at dark humor, and he was trying to be funny, so I wouldn’t hold this against him.
Keanu Reeves was excellent in "Bill & Ted". His problem is that he should do comedy, but he keeps trying to do straight dramatic roles. He's a good comedic actor but he's going for roles where he can't deliver. He just wants to be a leading man and it doesn't work.
shareI'm starting to dislike this guy more and more with every new article that's released about his dumb book. I guess he thought he was being funny because people always joke about Keanu's lack of acting talent. Wishing him death is something entirely different, however. I also don't get why he acts like the world suffered the loss of a couple of future Nobel prize winners who would've developed a cure for cancer. These guys did it to themselves. At least Keanu hasn't been so stupid to take a freaking speedball.

Pretty sure he chose Keanu Reeves because he knew even Keanu Reeves wouldn't take it personally. The internet loves to sensationalize nothing.

Why on earth Keanu’s name popped up in his head? Keanu is not that much good of an actor but not to the point when he could have traded him for River or Heath.
Like there were other people preparing that book and no one told him that people would jump at him for that name checking.
