How the hell was she only 28 in 'Big'????

She looked and acted at least 35 years old, yet in real life she was 28?????????????? I think she's lying about her date of birth being 1960. No way did she act or look like a woman in her late 20s in Big.

People who are 28 now are Jodie Sweetin, Jessica Biel, Kelly Clarkson, Lizzy Caplan, and LeAnn Rimes. They look and act 28.

because we are part of the generation that doesnt want to grow old (I'm 26) so we keep acting like little kids pretty much until our mid thirties. A generation ago at 25 you were a woman/man with full reponsabilities.

Well put!

But nothing to do with acting young and being a kid at heart---she just looked like a woman in her 30s, with a serious face and demeanor. Weird to think she was in her 20s. When I think 28, I think Jessica Simpson....it's just so weird that Elizabeth Perkins was NOT in her mid-30s.

Yeah, I had her pegged for about 33 in this film.

I think it is that people mature slower now. It's all about looking young, dressing young and acting young. With a different haircut and a different role, she might pass for 28, but not here. No way can I see a Jessica Biel in a role like this.....of course I wouldn't cast her in this role for reasons besides age appearance.

I like your explanation. I am 47 and look younger myself. I act like I am still in my 20's because, why be old! Life is too short!! Back when Elizabeth did Big, everything was different. TV, colors, even make up and hair.

Some people also are more mature than others at younger ages. My mom looked old when she was in her early 30's, to me anyway. I was 16 then. I look younger now than she did then. It's the times. The new 40's are the 30's now, 30's are the 20's etc

For Elizabeth Perkins, my favorite actress, it is the acting, training, years in the business & styles, that give her different looks and a wide variety of characters, silly, or serious, and she plays them all great!

Because of the difference in times. Women in the eighties were, I presume, more 'sophisticated' at a younger age than women nowadays.

it was totally the makeup and the clothes and especially the hair. look at women in their late twenties in the sixties or seventies, they look older too. the next generation is going to say the same about us and our 'laughable' styles. (pretty weird to think of)

I'm totally in love with the way she looked in BIG. I take her above Jodie Sweetin, Jessica Biel, Kelly Clarkson, Lizzy Caplan, and LeAnn Rimes any day.
