She said a couple of years ago (2012, I think) that she wanted to do another one, and it was rumored that part of the reason she didn't want that awful reboot to happen last year was because she was keen on doing the character again.
I think it would be great if we got one final "Murder, She Wrote" movie. The last one was in 2003.
I spoke with Angela about the possibility of another "Murder She Wrote" TV in 2015. She was preparing for the "Blithe Spirit" tour.
Per Angela,they had a script ready to shoot in 2007 and Anthony,her son, was set to direct again. CBS said they were not interested in funding the project.
CBS' reasoning was the last TV film had been aired in 2003. It was in the TOP 20 shows for that week and not the TOP 10. "Murder She Wrote" was a Top 10 hit for the first 11 years it aired. For CBS, the time had past to film another TV film.
At this point, the best bet is for Hallmark to agree to finance the films. I feel it would be great to see an aging Jessica Fletcher stopping the bad guys.
Sadly, Angela has backed out of the Broadway production of "The Chalk Garden".
Netflix to the rescue!
