If you take out the Lord of the Rings movies, do you think he's a film legend?

I like Braindead and Heavenly Creatures as much as the next guy but I don't feel he is as great a director as people say.

Why would you take out the LOTR movies?

Because they are all one movie.

Because it's three movies of the same franchise that was filmed at the same time.

Film legend is maybe pushing it.

He has made a number of cult horror-comedies coupled with King Kong plus The Hobbit trilogy which are alright, certainly not abominations.

However it does remain that The Lord of the Rings is by far his biggest achievement. One I do not see him surpassing. Take that away and he's just another decent Director.

But you can't take it away. He's a great director.
