Her career was demolished due to Michael's ugly shadow

Janet Jackson was literally the biggest woman in pop music in 2001. She had a number one song, album. All her songs were being played in heavy rotation. Jennifer Lopez and other acts could not compete with her. Her career and her influence was enormous. She was the most successful woman in the world in music.

When her brother dangled a baby off a balcony, made the crazy documentary that is when I noticed her career started taking a hit. Stations were not playing her songs as frequently it's as though his behavior and reputation affected hers. When he was arrested, his mug shot everywhere and then charged with child molestation. Her new album basically failed. Yes she had the "breast" scandal but I don't believe that was what tanked the album. It was being his sister.

Then his trial happened which was all over CNN, FOX and every station almost daily. She was shown walking by him frequently in support which disgusted people because most people thought he was guilty. This is when her music was quite literally blocked. Her next album tanked and then the next one bombed. Her career in music was just obliterated.

It was unfair.

People make me sick. It was her ****ing brother. What, these people wouldn't support members of their own families if they were in a similar situation and they believed in them?

I honestly remember fox news people back then saying "this is just making herself look bad". There were people screaming at her from the crowd in front of the court house insulting her for walking by him.

She was definitely in a tough situation. But yes, she loved her sibling.

I swear I despair for the future of our race sometimes.

I dunno, maybe it's because I'm not a parent, but MJ dangling the baby wasn't such a big deal to me. I mean he had a good grip on the brat. It was in no danger.

But Michael Jackson had a scandalous reputation long before 2001. I'm not a fan, but the accusations of child molestation appear to be groundless.

I liked Janet in the 80's. That was her peak. She lost her creative edge in the 90's. I think she's just getting older and she's in artistic decline.

But kudos to her for standing by her brother even if it did hurt her career.
