He's a terrible actor, to begin with. He was the worst part of Blackhawk Down. When he's trying to appear upset at the loss of some of his men (I'm thinking of his scenes with Eric Bana), you can practically seeing the cranks and gears in Hartnett's mind spinning around and telling him, "Furrow your brow, wince, frown..." and so forth. Everything about his acting seems fake and forced.
