Cruel TV Reboot Officially Dead, May Be Redeveloped...

We knew the show was dead at NBC, and have been left waiting to see if another network would pick it up. Unfortunately, the extended contracts are up and it's now officially dead. Though, it's interesting to hear it may be redeveloped.

Sigh...

"The reboot of cult 1999 movie Cruel Intentions is officially not going forward. The options on the cast in the pilot, toplined by Sarah Michelle Gellar, are up next week and won’t be renewed. While the current incarnation of Cruel Intentions is dead, I hear producing studio Sony TV might redevelop the idea.

Originally developed and ordered to pilot by NBC last season, the network in May left the project in contention, and the options on the cast were extended by Sony in June.

Over the summer, the network considered Cruel Intentions as a possible original series for the long-in-the-works NBCUniversal OTT service. But with the latter nowhere near reality, a summer run remained the sole viable scenario at NBC. That involved adjusting the budget of the project.

Lengthy on-and-off discussions between the network and Sony did not result in a deal, and at the end of October, NBC passed on the pilot. Over the past two months, Sony TV shopped it to other outlets. I hear there might be interest in a new take on the premise."

Hopefully now she can get another role in an already established show so there's no more pressure on her....

We all know she'll never do that.

they should release the pilot they filmed along with the wonderful maladys.

All the crap that gets on tv and lasts years and this wasn't given a chance?

Only think what she will continue working is baking cookies. So hopes for another TV show or even better, movie are zero :(
Unfortunatly...

Her career is OVER. It's sad, just sad.

I just... I give up. 😕

I wish her success with all the forthcoming Foodstirs projects (as she's clearly thriving doing it) but I just can't anymore, with the acting side of things. Whether its back luck, bad choices, lack of interest/hunger on Sarah's part, or a combination, I'm done.

Most likely another unaired pilot we'll never get to see. 😩

Final Nail >>> Coffin...

Something tells me they loved the pilot, everything about it except SMG's acting... she didn't seem to have a clue what was going on with it at all... Keeping the big name out'a the loop kinda spells disaster.

And after saying Boy George died instead of George Michael... I mean really :(

She is done.
