worst actress?

My mother always told me: "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it." I'm going to defy my mother in this instance.

Lorraine Bracco is one of the worst actresses ever.

She was good in "Goodfellas", but I think it was because she was basically playing herself: a hysterical woman who rants and raves and nags.

I was psyched to see "Medicine Man", as it was right after "Goodfellas", and who doesn't like Sean Connery? I found myself laughing out loud in the theater, amazed by her ditzy Melanie Griffith like delivery. Am I supposed to believe she's a doctor? Whatever!

When 'The Sopranos' started, I resisted watching it for a few seasons, as my low opinion of Bracco's acting was firmly entrenched. I relented after I heard all the great reviews. The acting was first rate from everybody on that cast, except for you know who. It is like she is reading her lines for the first time off of cue cards, pausing to inhale in the middle of her sentences. If Tony says something shocking or upsetting during their sessions, her 'surprised' face is so amateurish that it is comical.

A freind of mine saw her on Broadway in "The Graduate". Beforehand, she was all excited, being a fan of Bracco from Goodfellas and The Sopranos. I snickered and shared my opinion of Bracco's acting. She poo pooed me, saying that I was a bitter ass. A week or two after the performance, I ran into my friend, and she exclaimed: "Oh My God! You were SO right about Bracco! She has to be the WORST actress I have ever seen!"

Now don't get me wrong. I do not hate Lorraine Bracco. In fact, I am rather envious of her. She somehow (magically?) built herself a very enviable career with basically no talent whatsoever. Meanwhile, I plod along in my strange little life with not a hell of a lot to show for it.

Perhaps I am jealous, perhaps I am bitter, or perhaps I am just an *beep*

Perhaps you should listen to your mother.

I'm just kidding you can say what you like but she doesn't seem that bad to me, then again I've only seen her in Goodfellas.

What? How can you have not watched one of the best shows of all time, just because she plays a psychiatrist - no matter how bad she is. She doesn't do much more then ask a few questions every show. Idiot.

I don't have any complaints about her in the Sopranos. Since this is anonymous I'll admit i've seen a therapist before, and if she were mine I wouldnt think she was over/under/badly acting.

Yes she is and she also.....takes......too......long.......to.......say......her.......lines,but I guess she proves that a person dosent neccicarily need to have alot of talent to get a million dollar paycheck.

Bracco is a good but limited actress.

She is damn good (and sexy besides) within this range of characters: 1) Italian-American; 2) Emotional; 3) With several opportunities for emoting.

Again, she is quite good within that range. Her emoting always strikes me as honest and true to the character. But has she succesfully assayed broader, richer characters? If so, I haven't seen those performances --

That was my question, which you avoided answering by insulting me.
