She better not win the Oscar over Natalie Portman

Now before the nay-sayers start, I've seen both performances. Both were great. Both Oscar nominee caliber. But Natalie Portman's performance was better. I just hope the Oscars don't go the way of the Grammys here.

The Grammy's are notorious for giving the seasoned performers the awards for WHO they are and their entire career, not what they actually did for this nomination. A few that spring to mind are Jethro Tull beating Metallica (not kidding, look it up), and Steely Dan for beating Eminem.

Thank god Annette Benning already has an Oscar, otherwise she'd be the shoe-in. But I really hope Natalie Portman gets the award she deserves. Shoot, even looking at the nominees, I would be happier with Jennifer Lawrence getting the award than Benning.

Again, I'm not a Benning hater, I in fact love her! But this just isn't her year, and if she gets it, it will be a total political win, not an earned win.

Damn I sound jaded, bitter, and resentful. I'm really not! I just hate politically motivated award winning!!!!

Annette is an excellent actress, but my thing is, I think her Kids Are All Right performance was overhyped. It's good and borders on great, but at moments, she felt, in my opinion, a little less than fully fleshed out (I saw that more as a fault of the writers' than Annette's).

Now, if she had been nominated for Mother and Child instead, I think it would make a far more interesting race between her and Natalie.

I have a message for Germany...

Oh, crap, you're right. She HASN'T won an Oscar. Now it's an effing shoe-in. Overhyped performance is right. Well, let's hope that Natalie Portman gets it against these odds...

Milk was an amazing film. It was NOT a piece of $h*t.
