Agreed. I do like "Northanger Abbey", even if it's total piffle, and consider "Persuasion" and "Mansfield Park" to have flaws.

Still, do you realize that Austen is probably the only author from that era that people still read just for fun?

S&S has flaws also, but I cherish them all. Personally, I prefer both Mansfield Park and Persuasion to Sense and Sensibility.

Agreed, other than the undeniable inventive genius of "P&P" and "Emma", it all comes down to personal preference. Which is why I personally rate the fluffy "Northanger Abbey" over the serious "Persuasion", I tend to value things with a sense of humor much more highly than most critics and academics. Your preferences undoubtedly vary.
