Tonight's the night! Tour starts in LA

Streisand kicks off her mini-August tour tonight in LA at the Staples Center. According to the box office at the Staples Center, they are not offering any upgrades to ticket holders, as 35% of the most expensive seats remain unsold. (That's the average across the board - 35% of seats unsold). If you want better seats at a slightly discounted price, you have to buy them.

Uh oh. 35% of seats left unsold?

Time to do another Fockers movie in an effort to remain relevant.

Room for one more, honey.

I think the first Fockers movie was a very smart choice for her. It was a worldwide success and it got new people checking her out. Did you know that after that her old movies sold better? Some even checked out her music.

At least it's better than Madonna's attempts to remain relevant, acting like a 20 year old and showing her lady parts again. LOL

"The Fockers" films are so beneath Streisand. I find it amusing that Streisand
can dismiss "Hello Dolly!" and "For Pete's Sake", when both play like
"Citizen Kane" by comparison.

I think "The Guilt Trip" was the smarter choice. It's also a decent film, and
it should've done better.

reply

Sorry but The Guilt Trip wasn't a smart choice since it was a flop that did nothing for her career, went straight to DVD in most countries.

Please let's not act as if TGT was a good choice. I wonder what it looked on paper, since it's quite a boring movie (though Barbra is good in it).

Keep in mind, she was the star of "Dolly" and "Pete" where she was part of an ensemble cast for the "Fockers" movie.

Really no comparison between the three.

I didn't even mention Dolly nor Pete.

Just because a film bombs does NOT mean it "wasn't a smart choice" to do it.
It WAS a smart choice; the film had everything going for it - two huge
stars of different generations, but who have mass appeal; a solid script
and a decent release date (despite arguments to the contrary).

Nobody in Hollywood has a crystal ball, for heaven's sake. If they did,
EVERY movie would make ZILLIONS and get nodded for 15 Oscar nods.

The Focker films are among the most tasteless, juvenile films of the last
15 years. The fart jokes (among other adolescent "wit") was so
beneath Streisand, Hoffman and everyone else of respectful talent.
These were SUPPOSED to keep Streisand "relevant", but they did nothing
to keep her in the memory of ADHD teens/young adults, who stayed
away from Streisand's STARRING film (her first in well over a decade)
with Rogen.

As for "Dolly!", "Pete" and the "Focker" films, they ARE comparable -
they all feature Streisand. And "Dolly!", in particular, is an ensemble
movie - like the "Focker" films (only much better).

Not at all. Streisand was the top-billed star of "Dolly" and "Pete", but she wasn't for "Fockers"....she got 'equal billing' with the rest of the cast. HUGE (or as Trump would say, 'YUGE') difference there, champ.
