That she has ever done. Her elitist attitude in the real world leaks into all of her movie roles. She simply comes off as a pompous, overbearing shriek. I don't respect her acting ability and I don't think I'd like to share a glass of Chateau d'Yquem with her socially either. Kramer vs Kramer, The French Lieutenant's Woman, Sophie's Choice, Silkwood, Out of Africa, Postcards From The Edge, Bridges of Madison County, ect, ect, ect! TOTAL YAWNFEST!

The problem with your theory is that many prominent male actors and directors have worked with her, over the years. A so-called 'womens actress' would mainly have to settle for 'female friendship / bonding' vehicles with female directors, most likely shown on Lifetime than in mainstream cinema.
