Will he slip back into retirement?

Other than a short and a voice role, The Irishman was Joe Pesci's first performance in almost a decade, and his first in a major movie for a lot longer than that. And he was superb - one of the performances of the year, perhaps the finest work of his career.

I'm not sure if Pesci ever officially announced his retirement but I would imagine he will receive a lot of offers after emerging from the wilderness and delivering this tremendous work - I wonder if he will disappear once more, or if something will tempt him back in front of the camera again? I hope it's the latter.

I doubt he does anything else. Hes well past retirement age. He deserves to quit working like anyone else his age.

Yes, perhaps he’ll surprise us but that does seem most likely. If so, his performance in The Irishman is quite the swan song.

i think the only other thing he'd return for is lethal weapon 5. he said he had the most fun doing those films

Unfortunately, I think this is it. However, it would be a great performance (one of his best) and movie to end on. It was also stated in multiple publications that he turned the role down multiple times and this was with his friends De Niro and Scorcese.

If Richard Donner can do one more LW (at age 90)...and the rest of the gang is onboard (sounds like they are).....will we see Joe in this final installment??? Fingers crossed.

Hopefully. But from what I heard it was hell getting him to commit to The Irishman and that is with his good friend De Niro and his favorite director Scorsese, so I am weary about him doing any other films. I am still thinking that Lethal Weapon 5 is not happening. They could get the whole cast but Donner is pushing 91 and has not directed a films since '06. Fingers crossed though, I do hope it gets made and that Pesci is in it!

His first response when they asked him to come back for The Irishman was: Go F&*K yourself.

They had to wear him down

Like they said. That was probably it. He even refused to attend the Oscars for his nomination.
