The legendary director, who was being presented with an honorary award by Scorsese and Robert De Niro, had served as a "friendly witness" at the McCarthy's House Committee on Un-American Activities. And it was this fact that the Omaha native took umbrage with.
I just saw Nolte in CAPE FEAR not too long ago.. What a twisted movie that was??
