Why is she so special?

Never even seen or heard of her before the Billboards movie.

reply

Serious? So you never heard of Fargo, the classic Coen-Brothers film? She won her first Oscar for that movie

reply

Hasn't done much since before the Billboards movie, has she?

I don't give a damn about Fargo in any way, shape or form. And I don't like the Coen Brothers, neither. Classic, my ARSE.

Fargo is an excellent movie. Maybe you didn't like it, but most people regard the film highly (did you even see it? you say you never heard of Frances before the Billboards movie; so that means you didn't see it, right?)

Frances was also in the movie "Almost Famous." Earlier, she was in "Blood Simple," a movie where her character's husband paid some guys to have her killed.

reply

No, I didn't. The poster didn't inspire much confidence.

Mississippi Burning, North Country, Almost Famous. All of which she was nominated for an Oscar for.

I can't blame you. I thought Fargo was a horrible movie. We were supposed to laugh at a movie where a woman was terrified for her life, just because the guys who were terrorizing her were losers.

On the other hand, I thought she was great in Mississippi Burning.

The overrating is inexplicable. I've seen her in "Fargo" and other movies, and her acting reminds me of someone playing the goofy neighbor housewife on a 1960s sitcom. Critics love to heap praise on unattractive actresses, and the public jumps on the bandwagon.
