My theory on why he didn't win best actor

1. He wasn't in a wheelchair
2. Maybe the academy didn't like that he was portraying a stage actor instead of a film actor and they felt "threatened
3. It seems they have some complex with profane language recently
4. He isn't British because the academy is immensely Eurocentric
5. They wanted to throw an oscar at theory of everything so they don't get more bad rep

I personally think he put forth one of the best performances of his career and he completely deserved the oscar. Every other nominee was more deserving than redmayne I would've actually performed gyhlenhall from night crawler win because at least that wasn't just twisting up in a wheelchair and glorifying a horrible disease for "art" even hawking was somewhat disrespected in the film.

Redmayne was good but Felicity had the stronger acting performance.

It is interesting how a creative industry doesn't favor many original ideas. Actors portraying real people get the Oscar more often than not. Surprised Birdman won best picture (because it was about a fictional person and his world) or that Patricia won playing a created character.

Maybe the Oscar needs a "based on their life story" category for actor awards.
